90-93 Rear Disc Brake Conversion

The following instructions are one suggested method for installation. There are other ways to properly install your brake conversion. T.A.S. Disassembly1. Jack car up and secure it with jack stands.
2. Remove both rear wheels.
3. Remove rear seat.
4. Remove center console assembly to gain access to the ebrake cables.
5. Loosen the ebrake cable adjuster and disconnect the cables from the handle.
6. Remove the heat shield above the back section of the intermediate pipe to gain better access to the cables.
7. Remove all the bolts holding the cables to the chassis.
8. Remove the rear brake drums.
9. Remove the dust cap from the hub bearing with a small chisel and hammer.
10. Remove the hub nut and the hub bearing from the spindle.
11. Remove the rear most brake shoe and disconnect the ebrake cables. You can now remove the cables from the car.
12. Pinch off the rear brake hose to keep brake fluid from leaking.
13. Remove the brake line from the back of the wheel cylinder
14. Remove the 4 bolts holding the brake backing plate to the rear spindle & remove the backing plate. Do not dispose of these bolts; they will be used to hold the new locating bracket to the knuckle.
15. Clean the spindle face of any rust build up and install the new caliper locating brackets with the factory bolts that held the drum backing plate in place. Make sure the caliper locating holes are facing rearward.
16. Slide your original bearing/hub onto the spindle and torque accordingly with the factory hub nut. Secure the rotor to the hub with the rotor screws. Use a little Never-Seize on the screws so they come off easy the next time you perform a brake job.
17. Mount the caliper bracket to the new locating bracket with the 10mm X 1.25mm X 16mm bolts and 10mm washers. Install the pad shims and pads onto the caliper bracket.
18. Mount the caliper to the bracket.
19. Install the new supplied ebrake cables
20. Install the ebrake cable brackets to the back of the caliper with the 4) 8mm X 1.00mm X 20mm bolts supplied.
21. Install the caliper hose bracket to the bottom side of the ebrake caliper bracket with the 6mm X 1.00mm X 16mm bolts and washers. Use a small amount of Loctite on this bolt, if desired.
22. Secure the ebrake cable to the bracket with the supplied C-clip. Secure the end of the cable to the caliper with the supplied clevis and cotter pin.
23. Connect the banjo end of the supplied brake hose to the caliper with the banjo bolt and copper washers. Secure the female end of the hose to the hose bracket with a supplied C-clip.
24. Install the new pre-bent stainless steel brake line from the caliper brake hose to your existing chassis brake hose.
25. Reinstall the exhaust shield.
26. Check all of your bolts & fittings to make sure they are tight.
27. Admire your work.
Adjust the Cables & Bleed the Brakes
28. Adjusting the Ebrake Cables:
- Raise rear wheels off of the ground, then pull parking brake lever up one notch.
- Tighten equalizer adjusting nut until rear wheels drag slightly when turned.
- Release brake lever and ensure rear wheels do not drag when turned. Readjust if necessary.
- Parking brake should be fully applied when parking brake lever is pulled up 6 to 11 clicks.

30. Add brake fluid as needed and bleed all 4 brakes. Bleeding the front brakes is not required but this is a good time to do it.
31. Reassemble the interior, put the wheels back on and road test the vehicle.
